Pindar Creative produces bespoke bus stop map for Central Bedfordshire SuperHub

Pindar Creative has supported the installation of a new high-specification SuperHub bus shelter in Dunstable with a custom-designed local area map, now on display for passengers.

The SuperHub shelter provides 12 bays for passenger waiting and two bays for cycle storage, totalling approximately 50sqm. It was installed by Externiture on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council, replacing a more basic canopy with a significantly enhanced passenger facility. Designed with accessibility, comfort and connectivity in mind, the shelter incorporates real-time passenger information, seating, lighting, as well as sustainable features such as a living green roof, and improved waiting facilities.

The scheme has been recognised as a STAR BUS STOP in the Campaign for Better Transport report Better Bus Stops: Creating a National Bus Stop Standard. The report highlights best-practice examples across the UK and calls for a national standard to ensure bus stops provide clear information, accessibility and high-quality infrastructure. STAR BUS STOP locations are identified as exemplars of these principles in action.

Clear, reliable passenger information is central to that standard. Pindar Creative's bespoke map forms part of the shelter’s integrated information suite, helping passengers understand local bus services, orient themselves within the surrounding area and identify key destinations. Designed with clarity and legibility at its core, the map supports confident journey planning and encourages greater use of public transport.
