Encouraging Active Travel: Pindar Creative Develops Sustainable Travel Map for West Lancashire Borough Council
16 April 2026
Pindar Creative is delighted to have worked with West Lancashire Borough Council’s Community Connector & Wellbeing Team to create a new travel map designed to encourage staff to walk and cycle between the council’s three main office sites. This initiative aligns with the council’s Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) and supports its commitment to promoting sustainable and active travel.
In addition to commuting routes, the map highlights eleven additional walking/cycle routes, ranging in length from 0.9 to 3 miles. These are designed to encourage employees to take active breaks during the day (where feasible), promoting well-being and a healthier workplace culture.
To make sustainable travel even more accessible, the council’s Borrow a Bike scheme is highlighted on the map. This initiative is designed to allow staff to borrow bikes free of charge, making it easier for employees to choose cycling as their preferred mode of transport.
By integrating these travel options, the map supports the LCWIP’s vision of creating a connected, safe, and active travel network across West Lancashire. Pindar Creative is proud to contribute to this initiative and to support local authorities in developing practical resources that encourage sustainable travel and promotes positive wellbeing and behaviour change.
